So my mother-in-law has a Porsche 912E that her boyfriend basically gave her to sell and I have been tasked with the Internet setup portion of the sale. It's a 1976 with factory AC and sunroof. It's damn near showroom quality and is immaculate. Numbers all match and all the manuals are included. What is the best way for me to 1.) get this gem on the net 2.) not look like a snot-nosed twerp who doesn't know how to sell classic cars (I do not exactly know how) 3.) weed out "tire kickers" and people who aren't really interested? I know some of you fine people have done this sort of thing before and would like any tips for getting this thing sold and for the best possible price.
Any assistance is much appreciated! :)

You can always submit it as a seller submission to the Daily Turismo - it's free! send email to tips@dailyturismo.com
I suggest a good craigslist ad too because it is also free. Write up the details, take at least 4 pictures (outside front, outside rear, engine, interior) but preferably 16-24 pics from different angles. Things to include in the ad: miles, features (AC - sunroof, manual/auto?), condition (dings, dents, clear title?), tire size/type and remaining life, recent maintenance, original paint?, vin, why it is being sold, & asking price.

lol, sorry, but I think that this guy should go for close to $30,000. Time to raid the piggy bank.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I told her the more info that she could give me about it, the better. Thanks for the help and I will be sure to send it in to the Daily Turismo once I get all the info and pictures gathered together!

Im not so sure you could sell it that high. $30,000 is a a good price for an immaculate 911 of that era. An immaculate 912E on the other hand is worth a little more than half that. Not to insult you at all but on the current market your car is probably worth somewhere between $15,000 and $18,000. Mostly because not many people out there are looking for them. A very good place to sell your car would probably be on thesamba.com . Its a forum that specializes in all air-cooled VW's an Porsches. There are several rough ones on there for around $9500 so if you advertise it for around $20,000 you could probably have it sold for a few grand less than that. But in any case, GLWS!

Post a for sale ad on a Porsche specific website like Rennlist, or take out an ad in a Porsche magazine like Excellence. That will expose the car to knowledgeable buyers and also show you what cars in similar condition usually go for.
Or, you could, ya know, just give it to me :P
